Aikido Dojo Gamlestaden 1989–2019

Aikido Dojo Gamlestaden was founded in 1989 in Gothenburg (Sweden) by a group of seasoned enthusiasts led by John Patrick Johnsen Sensei. The goal right from the start was to promote and develop a unique vision of Aikido among people from all walks of life regardless of race, religion, gender or political conviction. A great number of practitioners from virtually every continent stepped through its doors on their aikido journey. Over the 30 years ADG has produced many high ranking aikidoka that continue to promote the art of Aikido in various ways and forms. What unites us is our love and appreciation for the place that built our solid aikido foundation.

To celebrate that love we invite aikidoka of all styles and affiliations to take part in a three-day, all-inclusive seminar celebrating the 30th anniversary of ADG, hosting Pat Hendricks Shihan, 7th Dan. We have had the privilege to be the first dojo in Sweden to host Hendricks sensei in 1999 which we continue to do over the past 20 years. Many of us spent time as ushi deshi at her Dojo in San Leandro and attended her seminars in Europe and the USA.

We are looking forward to seeing dear friends and meeting new ones for dynamic training and social opportunity to enjoy what we all share — aikido.
